RACE COMMITTEE

Sailing Rules

The event will be governed by:

  • The International Rules for Preventing Collisions at Sea Board
  • The safety measures of each participating boat shall comply with all referred to her Certificate οf General Inspection
  • These Sailing Instructions and their amendments.

No National Authority prescriptions will apply.

Notices to Competitors

Notices to competitors will be notified online to all skippers. 

Marks

All marks will be inflatable triangle yellow buoys.

The start

The start will be given on Saturday, May 10, time TBA at the east side of Aegina (Ag. Marina) at the following location:

37o  44.225 N

23o  33.097 E

The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag  with letters RC on the starting R.C. boat and an  inflatable triangle yellow buoy

A boat starting later than 20 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start without a hearing.  The Race Committee, at its discretion, may extend the 20 minutes time limit to start in case of absence of wind. 

    1. When the weather conditions are not favorable or there is a technical problem, the Race Committee boats may hold position by using engines.
    2. The starts will be given as follows : 

5 minutes  before the start time :  Warning Signal (GREEN flag ) and 1 sound signal 

4 minutes  before the start time:  Engines off   (1 long sound signal) 

Start  : (Lowering of the Warning signal) and 1 sound signal 

Premature Start: RED flag  and 1 sound signal  ,  the boat will take a 10% time penalty , no need  to start again)    

All the signals will be announced by VHF, channel 69. The broadcasting of the signals will be for informative purposes only. Omissions or mistakes throughout the broadcasting of the signals by the VHF will not be ground for request for redress.

The Finish

Leg:  Aegina  – Poros

The finishing line will be between the Light DANA at the entrance of Poros channel to port and an inflatable triangle yellow buoy to starboard 

Location:                     37o  31.730 N

                                  23o  25.210 E

The Race Committee reserves the right to finish the leg  in any location prior to the above finish line sending the GPS location online Then the finish line will be between the R.C boat and the yellow mark

Penalty System

For infringement of the priority rules the One-Turn Penalty will apply.

Time Limits

The time limit for the race will be announced online before the starting procedure

Boats failing to finish within the time limit will be scored "Did Not Finish" without a hearing.

Engines

    1. Engines should be switched off before four (4) minutes prior to the start.
    2. Use of engine for propulsion is forbidden.

Protests and Requests for Redress

    1. A boat intending to protest shall inform the other boat on VHF channel 69 at the first reasonable opportunity and shall inform the Race Committee of the boat being protested immediately after finishing.
    2. The protest time limit is 60 minutes after the protesting boat has finished.
    3. Ratings will not be grounds for a protest or a request for redress by a boat
    4. Competitors will be informed about the  hearings in which they are parties or named as witnesses.

Scoring

Races will be scored using the Time on Time system (Corrected time = Elapsed time x Rating).

Safety Regulations

A boat that retires from a race shall notify the Race Committee as soon as possible on VHF channel 69 or online.

Prizes

Prizes will be given to: The 1st, 2nd & 3rd boat.

Right to Use Name and Likeness

In participating in the Drydockers Regatta 2025  a competitor automatically grants to the Organizing Authority and the sponsors of the Event, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition in the Drydockers Regatta 2025 and in all material related to the Drydockers Regatta 2025 without compensation.

Disclaimer of Liability

Competitors participate in the Drydockers Regatta 2025 entirely at their own risk.

The responsibility for the Decision of a boat to participate in the Event or to continue to sail is exclusively hers. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Event.

Organizing Committee Boat

The signal Race Committee boat at the starting line will display a «RC» ORANGE flag.
